Our Stay & Our Thoughts
Located just outside the village of Riby, North East Lincolnshire, Hunger Hill is a 5-pitch Caravan and Motorhome Club Certificated Location (CL) that offers a delightful escape surrounded by vast farmers’ fields. This hidden gem is not only a peaceful haven but also conveniently located, being a mere 15-minute drive from the charming seaside town of Cleethorpes.
The site features hardstanding pitches, each equipped with a 10-amp electric hook-up, providing a comfortable base for visitors. While Hunger Hill doesn’t provide on-site toilets or showers, it encourages self-sufficiency, allowing campers to utilise their own facilities—a small trade-off for the tranquility and privacy the site affords.
Adding a personal touch to the experience is the lovely information hut, where guests can find valuable insights into local attractions and activities. This thoughtful amenity enhances the overall welcoming atmosphere of the site.
Practical facilities, including an elsan point, waste water disposal, and a fresh water tap, ensure that basic needs are met. It’s worth noting that Hunger Hill is located on a working farm, which, on occasion, introduces the distant hum of plant machinery. However, this subtle background noise is not disruptive and, if anything, adds an authentic touch to the rural experience.
While there are no shops or pubs within walking distance, the absence of commercial distractions contributes to the site’s secluded charm. Hunger Hill becomes a haven for those seeking respite from the chaos of everyday life.
Surrounding the pitches is a pond and ample grassed areas, enhancing the natural beauty of the location. The site’s idyllic setting, well-maintained facilities, and the freedom to explore the nearby fields make it an excellent choice for a memorable and refreshing camping experience.
In conclusion, Hunger Hill in Riby, North East Lincolnshire, strikes a balance between tranquility and convenience. Its proximity to Cleethorpes makes it an ideal base for exploring the seaside town, while the occasional sounds from the working farm add a touch of authenticity to the rural retreat.
